When we study in Pune, classes are taught on a monthly basis. The teachings focus on different types of postures each week during the month. The first week standing poses are emphasized, the second week is forward bending, third week back bending and in the fourth week Pranayama.
Teachers often find themselves in a quandary on how to structure an entire class or workshop around a particular group of poses. By mirroring the approach taken in Pune, this 5-day workshop will concentrate on how to introduce, teach and link actions within poses to understand these types of poses as a whole.
Day 1: General class
Day 2: Standing asanas
Day 3: Forward bending asanas
Day 4: Backward bending asanas
Day 5: Twisting asanas
Within each class we will study how to teach basic inversions.
The class will be open to questions, and specific poses requested by students.

This 20 hour teacher training program will include information on scoliosis,
Elise’s approach to yoga for scoliosis, and a sequence of beginning and
intermediate poses designed to reduce pain and create better postural alignment
of the body.
Teachers will have an opportunity to learn and identify the more common
patterns of scoliosis in students with scoliosis. Elise will also demonstrate how
to adapt the yoga asanas for scoliosis and how to use props and adjust students
with scoliosis. In addition, well renowned chiropractor Steven Katz, will present
the anatomy of a scoliosis spine. The physical and psychological causes and
effects of scoliosis will be presented as well.
Students of all levels are also welcome to attend, and teachers attending are
invited to bring their students. This will be a great opportunity to learn how to
apply yoga to a student’s particular scoliosis.
To become a Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer, it is necessary to attend all class sessions
during the week, submit a paper which will be assigned in the workshop and
submit two case studies within 3 months of completing the workshop. There is
an additional fee upon submission. |
